About 2.8 million tonnes of grain threshed in Penza region

Penza, 1 September 2020. PenzaNews. Farmers of Penza region threshed about 2.8 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

“The average yield in the region exceeds 39 centners per hectare,” the ministry said.
The press service noted that a year ago, by the beginning of autumn, about 1.7 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops had been harvested, the average yield was lower – 24 centners per hectare.
“1 583 700 tonnes of winter wheat, 24 700 tonnes of winter rye, 917 tonnes of winter triticale were threshed, the gross harvest of spring wheat amounted to 576 100 tonnes, that of barley – 469 100 tonnes, oats – 56 400 tonnes, and peas – 55 000 tonnes,” the Ministry of Agriculture said.
The department added that the highest yield – 49 centners per hectare – was observed in Bashmakovsky and Bekovsky areas.
