Spring sowing in Penza region covers more than 1 million hectares

Penza, 2 June 2021. PenzaNews. Spring sowing was carried out in Penza region on an area of 1 022 000 hectares. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

“Spring cereals and legumes cover 476 300 hectares. Spring wheat was sown on an area of 254 700 ha and barley on an area of 118 500 ha. Corn was planted on 41 400 hectares,” the ministry said.

The press service added that industrial crops were sown on 457 600 hectares, including 53 800 hectares of sugar beet and 303 900 hectares of sunflower.

“Potatoes were planted on an area of 24 500 hectares in Penza region farms, vegetables – on 4 600 hectares,” the Ministry of Agriculture said.
