The safe was built in a wall and hidden behind a painting. The culprits had to steal the whole safe to get to the money.

“We found out that three people were involved in the crime: two young women, and the man who executed the theft proper. They used the following scheme: after acquiring counterfeit SIM cards, they called the victim to arrange a date. One of the young women came to the businessman’s house and slipped slipping powder into his glass when they were drinking together. The victim fell asleep, while the man who aided the crime drove to the location, entered the flat and stole the safe, which was later cracked for the money,” said Police Colonel Sergei Malyanov, head of the police station No. 4 of the Penza city Ministry of the Interior department.

The suspects did not spend the whole stolen money, he pointed out.

“Most of the sum – 1,400,000 rubles – had been seized and filed as evidence,” the police colonel clarified.

The culprits now face a criminal case under Part 3, Art. 158 of the Criminal Code, “Theft,” Sergei Malyanov added.

“The man, born in 1986, has been arrested and is currently on trial. The young woman who slipped the sleeping powder to the businessman was placed on house arrest. The other young woman is giving testimony as a witness,” he explained.
