Penza, 28 March 2016. PenzaNews. A 61-year-old woman living in the Penza region has transfered 22,000 rubles to fraudsters in an attempt to receive monetary compensation for unstated services.

“The woman received a call on her cellphone: an unidentified person told her she is eligible for compensation, and needs to transfer the money to a dedicated account to receive it,” the press service of the regional Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

The elderly woman followed the instructions by the unidentified person and transferred the requested sum to the bank account, but did not receive the compensation she expected, the police added.

“An investigation is underway. The police are identifying the culprits involved in the crime,” they clarified.
