Penza, 9 April 2016. PenzaNews. A 59-year-old Penza citizen has lost 100,000 rubles to fraudsters in an attempt to save his son from an alleged criminal penalty.

“Late at night, the victim received a call to his home phone from an unidentified man who introduced himself as a police investigator, and said the victim’s son had caused a traffic accident and required money to be saved from a criminal penalty,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

According to the police, the victim followed the unidentified man’s instructions and transfered the requested sum of money in several installments to five mobile phone accounts using payment kiosks.

“An investigation is underway. The police are identifying the culprits involved in the crime,” they clarified.
