Kuznetsk, 26 April 2016. PenzaNews. A 48-year-old woman living in Kuznetsk of the Penza region has lost 175,000 rubles to a fraudster who sent her a fake money transfer text message.

After the woman called the phone number listed in the text message to see what is wrong, the unidentified culprit who introduced himself as a bank security officer asked her to follow several steps at an ATM to return the allegedly withdrawn funds, the press service of the regional Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

“She followed the unidentified man’s instructions, after which she found out that the money was gone from her account,” the police said.

An investigation of the fraud case is underway, they clarified.
