“According to investigation, the law enforcement closed down the illegal gambling parlor on Burdenko street in May 2016. During the inspection of the office space on the first floor of the building, the police discovered and seized 15 gambling machines,” Lyudmila Fomina, senior assistant of the head of the regional Investigative Committee for media relations, told PenzaNews.
According to her, the gambling parlor orchestrators attempted to hide it from being discovered by authorities.
“The entrance to the building had no markings on the outside that would point anyone towards discovering a gambling parlor inside. Moreover, according to investigators, the orchestrators were operating on a whitelist basis, allowing entry only for people accompanied by persons they knew, and monitored all entrants through the video camera at the door,” she explained.
The Investigative Committee specialists are still gathering all evidence and conducting the necessary measures, Lyudmila Fomina clarified.
“As part of the criminal proceedings, the police are questioning the witnesses, inspecting the seized machines and conducting other measures to identify the culprits that will face a criminal case,” she added.
