Pachelma, 26 June 2016. PenzaNews. A 22-year-old young woman from the Pachelma area in the Penza region fell victim to a fraudster who enticed her into giving him the data necessary to hijack her banking account.

“The young woman received a text message saying her card was blocked. After she called the phone number listed in the message, an unidentified man explained her a set of steps she needs to follow to ‘lift the block.’ The young woman followed the instructions, gave the fraudster her banking card number and the PIN she received via a text message, after which she learned that around 5,000 rubles was withdrawn from her account,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

An investigation of the fraud case is underway, they clarified.
