Native of Orenburg region suspected in series of thefts arrested in Penza

Penza, 5 February 2017. PenzaNews. A 50-year-old resident of the Penza region was arrested on suspicion of committing a series of thefts in the territory of the Penza region.

"A resident of Penza turned to the police. In the daytime the criminal entered her house having broken a window. He searched all rooms and in the bedroom he found a casket with 15 jewelry items and over 100,000 rubles," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Penza region told PenzaNews.
The police added that the arrested, who had been found criminally liable before for thefts and a murder, confessed to the crime.
"It was established that in the morning, being in the state of alcoholic intoxication the criminal was passing by the house of the victim and decided to commit a theft. The suspect made sure that there was no-one in the house and tried to enter it through the door but could not open it. After that, using a crowbar, which he found in the territory of the house, the criminal broke the window. He managed to spend a part of the stolen money: he bought a laptop and rented a flat. The remaining money and the jewelry were confiscated by the police. In the nearest time, the property will be returned to the owner," the department explained.
The office emphasized that a criminal case was opened on the fact of burglary.
"The elected measure of restriction for the suspect is detention. Later, the police established that the man was involved in committing a couple of similar crimes in the territory of the Bessonovsky area," the office summed up.
