Mokshan, 13 February 2017. PenzaNews. A 60-year-old resident of the village Lopatino of the Mokshany area of the Penza region, who was found guilty by court for illegal cutting of pine on a large scale, was given a 2-year suspended sentence with a 2-year probation period.

"In June 2016 the man concluded a construction contract with the LLC "Mokshany forestry", which gave him the right to carry out selective sanitary cutting of 35 cubic metres of woodland. However, when logging in July and August, he deliberately exceeded the territory specified by the contract and illegally cut 89 pines equal to 81 cubic metres, thus the man caused damage to the Russian Federation, which amounts to over 750,000 rubles," the senior assistant of the head of the regional prosecutor for media relations Svetlana Artamonova told PenzaNews.

She specified that the civil action for compensation of the damage caused to the forest fund was referred for the civil proceeding.

"The sentence did not come into effect," the interlocutor added.
