Penza, 1 June 2017. PenzaNews. The police put an end to a supply chain of anabolic steroids that are forbidden in free circulation in the Penza region territory.

"Persons who sold the substances in one of Penza fitness centres were established. They were coaches aged 28 and 40. Criminal cases were opened against them under Art. 234 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal traffic in potent or poisonous substances for the purpose of sale". The criminals had to give a written cognizance not to leave and to behave properly," the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told PenzaNews.

The department specified that measures aimed at establishing a person involved in the organization of the supply chain had been taken.

"We arrested a 28-year-old resident of the Moscow region. During the search, we confiscated anabolic steroids and correspondence with the fitness coaches," the police explained.

The MIA department specified that it confiscated about 150 grams of illegal substances altogether.

"The man legally traded in sports nutrition in one of Moscow shopping centres. It was established that he had set up a supply channel of anabolic steroids in a number of other regions. The man had been found criminally liable before for a similar offence," the press service said.

The police informed that a criminal case was opened against the man under Part 3, Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

"The article presupposes punishment by means of imprisonment for up to 8 years. At present the man is under arrest," the department summed up.
