Workers of the regional department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation detained the deputy head of the city Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Irina Shirshina at the workplace. This was reported by a source in law-enforcement authorities.

"Under the Criminal Procedure Code she was recently detained for 48 hours," the interlocutor said.

According to him, the arrest of the Penza vice mayor is connected with investigation of a criminal case that deals with land use issues.

The information was not proved officially yet.

The press service of the Penza administration refused to give any comments to PenzaNews.

Irina Shirshina became the deputy head of the city Department of Architecture and Urban Planning in the spring of 2015.

Previously, she headed the department of state inspection for housing and construction as well as for control over a technical condition of self-propelled vehicles and other types of machinery of the Penza region.
