Fraudsters in guise of tax officers swindle money out of hotel owner in Penza

Penza, 5 September 2017. PenzaNews. Police officers are establishing identities of fraudsters who swindled money out of a hotel owner in the guise of tax officers in Penza.

"An unknown called the man on his office phone and introduced himself as a deputy head of the tax service and asked for an owner's mobile phone number. After that, another stranger called the owner introducing himself as a head of the tax service. He said the man had to provide stay of two families in the hotel. In order to meet the clients, the unknown asked the owner to buy food promising to compensate the money," the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told PenzaNews.
The department specified that later the unknown had called again.
"He said he had ordered the food and the owner had to pay for it. Following the stranger's instructions, the entrepreneur transferred 38,000 roubles to the fraudster’s mobile phone account," the police explained.
The department noted that investigation on the fact of fraud was conducted.
