Penza, 12 October 2017. PenzaNews. The police started investigation on the fact of a telephone fraud, the victim of which was an administrator of a Penza cafe located in the city centre, where an event for officials was alleged to be held.

As the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told PenzaNews, an unknown had called the worker of the establishment, introduced himself as a representative of the city administration and asked to book two tables in the cafe for staff of the mayor's office.

"The unknown explained that elite alcohol would be delivered for them and the sum of 43,000 roubles had to be transferred for it," the department added.

The police explained that after a while the man had called back to specify the details of booking and payment for the alcohol.

"Following his instructions the administrator transferred the stated amount of money to the subscriber number account but the alcohol products were not delivered and the telephone of the unknown was subsequently turned off," the MIA department said.

The press service reported that at that moment police officers were taking measures to identify persons involved in the crime.
