Penza, 31 October 2017. PenzaNews. 46 crimes of corruption were revealed in the Penza region over 10 months of the year 2017. This was reported by colonel Denis Novikov, acting head of the department for economic security and anti-corruption management under the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He specified that 15 cases were connected with malfeasance in public office, and 7 cases – with bribe-taking.

"15 crimes were registered in the sphere of budget funds protection, 10 of them were of a corruption nature. In the sphere of housing and utilities 23 offences were revealed and registered, 15 of them – of a corruption nature," Denis Novikov explained.

The acting head of the department for economic security and anti-corruption management specified that compensation for material damage from completed criminal cases that had been taken to court amounted to over 100%.

"The most typical crimes in the budgetary sphere at the current stage are offences against budgetary funds allocated to finance target federal and regional programmes as well as social needs," he noted.

Denis Novikov reported that in 2017 the persons who had been brought to court for corruption included the deputy head of the Bessonovsky area administration, the head of the Tamala administration, and the five heads of rural administrations in the Gorodishchensky, Pachelmsky, Neverinsky, and Kuznetsky areas.
