"In August, in a friend's yard the man being in a state of alcohol intoxication twice hit the dog, which was kept on a chain and could not run away or hide itself, on its head with a handle of a pitchfork, and once – with a metal part of an instrument with sharpened teeth," an official representative of the Narovchatsky district court told PenzaNews.

He specified that the dog received numerous haematomas in the head and an eye as well as four stab wounds on the body.

"The animal died," the agency's interlocutor noted.

He said that when choosing a penalty the court took into account acknowledgement of guilt and the fact that the offender repented what he had done.

"The sentence has not entered into force," the representative of the court added.
