Pensioner from Penza transfers 90,000 roubles to stranger to save son-in-law from prison

Penza, 29 December 2017. PenzaNews. A 77-year-old pensioner from Penza lost a large sum of money believing that his son-in-law knocked down a person and money will help to release him from legal responsibility.

"According to the man, he was called by an unknown person. With a voice similar to the voice of his son-in-law, he said that he had knocked down a man and that money was needed to exonerate him from responsibility. Following instructions of the caller, the pensioner transferred 90,000 roubles to the account of the subscriber number," the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation told PenzaNews.

The department added that a criminal case was opened on the fact of the fraud.

Police officers take measures to identify persons involved in the crime.
