Pensioner from Kuznetsk becomes victim of fraud when using brokerage platform

Penza, 11 January 2018. PenzaNews. A pensioner from Kuznetsk of the Penza region fell for trick of Internet fraudsters when using a brokerage platform. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"According to the victim, in May, 2017 she opened an electronic account on one of websites. In September, she received a call through an Internet application from a woman who introduced as Veronika. She said that the pensioner became a victim of fraudsters and lost 265,000 roubles. To return the stolen money she was offered to transfer 59,000 roubles, provide a copy of the passport and bank card details, which she did," the department explained noting that after that the specified amount was transferred from the card to the brokerage platform.
The police added that in December the pensioner had transferred 120,000 roubles to participate in exchange trading.
"Altogether, 179,000 roubles were written off from the brokerage platform," the press service said.
A criminal case was opened on the fact.
Law enforcement officers are taking measures to identify criminals who cheated on the elderly Internet user.
