Investigative Committee: The head doctor of the Penza oncology dispensary detained for taking a bribe of 1 million roubles

Penza, 13 April 2018. PenzaNews. On the basis of operational and investigative activities carried out by bodies of the Federal Security Service, the second department for investigation of particularly important cases under the Penza regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against head doctor of the Penza oncology dispensary Vitaly Serebryakov for an offence under Part 2, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Bribe-taking".

"According to the investigation, on April 13, 2018, the head doctor of the medical institution received a bribe, which was given to the official by a legal entity, in the amount of over 1 million roubles. The illegal compensation in an especially large amount was received by the suspect for carrying out actions within his powers in favour of the organization," Tatyana Makhnitskaya, senior assistant of the head of the regional investigative department for media relations under the Investigative Committee of Russia, told PenzaNews.

She explained that for this amount the head of the oncology dispensary had to create conditions for participation of the legal entity in auctions for the supply of medicine as well as for conclusion of contracts with it.

"After receiving the money the head doctor was detained by law enforcement officers. The money was confiscated by an investigator during the inspection of the scene. The measure of restraint is being chosen," the interlocutor said.

According to Tatyana Makhnitskaya, a complex of investigative actions aimed at securing evidence base and establishing all circumstances of the crime is conducted.

"Documents relevant to the case have been confiscated from the oncology dispensary," she noted.
