Penza, 15 February 2019. PenzaNews. The prosecutor's office of the Bessonovsky area of the Penza region recognized initiation of criminal proceedings under Part 1, Art. 245 of the Criminal Code of Russia "Cruelty to animals" legal.

As senior assistant of the regional prosecutor for media relations Svetlana Artamonova told PenzaNews, the reason for this was the discovery of the corpse of a dog, whose death had been presumably painful and caused by suffocation, on February 9 in the village of Bessonovka.

"The preliminary investigation is under control of the prosecutor's office of the Bessonovsky area," the interlocutor said.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
