Penza, 14 July 2019. PenzaNews. Telephone scammers posing as employees of the Central Bank, swindled more than 150,000 roubles out of two residents of Penza.

According to the press service of the Penza regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a 57-year-old man received a call from an alleged bank, during which he was persuaded that someone was trying to withdraw money from his card and to prevent this it was necessary to voice details and codes from SMS.

"After the man provided the information, he found that 89,000 roubles were written off from the card," the department said.

The press service added that on the same day a similar statement to the police had been made by a 44-year-old woman who had lost 64,000 roubles.

Investigation on the fact of fraud is conducted.
