Almost 34% of crimes registered in Penza region from January to August 2019 – 2,977 out of 8,786 – were committed in public places, including more than 2,000 crimes committed outdoors. Such data are published on the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the region.

According to the information of the supervisory authority, in comparison with the same period of the last year the number of crimes in public places increased by more than 2%, in the street – by 4%.

A significant number of crimes was registered in the territory of the Oktyabrsky district of Penza – 596 cases, Zheleznodorozhny district – 479, Pervomaysky district – 414, Leninsky district – 313, as well as in Kuznetsk – 200, Penzensky area – 119 and in Zarechny – 110.

At the same time, the greatest growth is observed in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Penza, Shemysheysky, Issynsky and Spassky areas.

The most common crimes in public places were theft, robbery, drug trafficking, violation of road safety and transport operation.
