Resident of Bashkortostan to be tried in Penza for telephone fraud

Penza, 6 January 2020. PenzaNews. A 32-year-old resident of Bashkiria will be tried in Penza on charges of having committed a series of crimes stipulated by Part 3, Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud".

"According to the investigation, the malefactor called residents of Penza region, who placed ads for the sale of real estate on a well-known online service. He said he was ready to make a deal and list a deposit. Under this pretext, the man asked the victims to proceed to the nearest ATM, and then dictated what to do next," the press service of the regional office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told PenzaNews.

The agency explained that as a result the deceived people had transferred various amounts of money to the details provided by the accused man.

"One of the victims lost 126,000 roubles," the police said.

The press service specified that the man had confessed to what had been done.

The case file was transferred to the Pervomaisky District Court of Penza.
