A taxi driver is suspected of stealing a passenger's purse, which contained 87 000 roubles and bank cards, during a trip from the town of Serdobsk to the working village of Bekovo, Penza region. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case was initiated on the fact of theft on the grounds of an offense under Part 2, Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the department explained.

The police added that the suspect had been found criminally liable before.

"He confessed to what he had done," the press office said.
