"According to the man, he received an e-mail from an unknown person, saying he had won $2,400 and it was necessary to pay a duty of 2,555 roubles to get it," said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Penza region.

The department added that the man had followed the stranger's instructions, but he never received the money, and the site was blocked.

"Investigation on the fact of fraud is conducted. Police officers take measures to identify persons involved in the crime," the press service said.
