Penza, 23 March 2020. PenzaNews. A 42-year-old resident of Penza lost 625 thousand roubles in the hope of earning on cryptocurrency. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“According to the man, in September 2019 an unknown person called him, who introduced himself as a broker and offered to receive income on fluctuation of the cryptocurrency rate. The caller explained, for that purpose it was necessary to transfer money to the accounts that he would indicate and after the sale of bitcoins the man would begin to receive income,” the department said.

The police added that from September to December, the man had transferred a large amount to other people's accounts.

“On the website where the citizen registered his account, he saw a message stating that he had received an income of $25,000, but he could not withdraw it,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of fraud.
