Penza, 21 August 2020. PenzaNews. Pervomaisky District Court of Penza found a 55-year-old native of the Kolyshleysky district, who posted hostile statements about people infected with novel COVID-19 coronavirus infection on social networks in the spring of 2020, guilty of committing a crime under Part 2, Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Public calls for extremist activities”. This was reported by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Penza region.

“In April 2020, the citizen was detained by FSB officers at his place of residence. During the investigation, the perpetrator, under the weight of responsibility for the crime committed, repented and fully admitted his guilt,” said the agency.

The press service clarified that the man was sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 2 years with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the placement of appeals and other materials in public information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet.
