Three Penza residents accused of extortion of 20 million roubles and cars from Serdobsk businessman

Penza, 30 December 2020. PenzaNews. A charge of committing a crime under item “b”, Part 3, Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Extortion” was brought against three residents of Penza aged 30–39 years. According to the investigation, in November 2020, they demanded money in the amount of 20 million roubles from a businessman from Serdobsky area and wanted a transfer of the rights to his two cars. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The department explained that the attackers had threatened to use violence against the man otherwise and to spread information discrediting his honour and dignity. They handcuffed the man and took him to a forest belt.

“The victim gave the attackers money in the amount of 300 000 roubles and a car worth more than 4 million roubles. The next day, they arrived at the victim's office, where he handed over another 1 million roubles,” the press service said.

The department added that at the next meeting, Penza residents had been detained.

“A preventive measure in the form of detention was taken against the accused,” the police department said.
