The ex-governor of Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev, who had been accused of taking bribes and remanded in custody until May 20, was transferred from a temporary detention centre to the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention centre. This was reported by the federal media, citing Olga Druzhinina, a member of Moscow's public monitoring commission, who had visited the former regional head in the pre-trial detention centre.

Olga Druzhinina says to journalists that Ivan Belozertsev is held in a four-bed cell without a TV set, he does not complain about the conditions, notes the correct attitude of the detention facility staff and speaks positively about his fellow inmates.
According to a member of the capital's Public Monitoring Commission, Ivan Belozertsev is the first of the arrested governors to be placed in Matrosskaya Tishina instead of Lefortovo.
