Penza, 15 June 2021. PenzaNews. A counterfeit banknote of 5 000 roubles of 1997 was found in Penza by a bank employee in the proceeds of an alcoholic beverage shop. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

“On closer inspection, it was found that the paper of the note was of inadequate quality, it lacked security fibres and a security thread, and the watermark was imitated,” the text noted.

It adds that criminal proceedings were instituted under Part 1, Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, storage, transportation or sale of counterfeit money or securities”.
