Ex-governor Ivan Belozertsev’s detention extended until November 20

Penza, 17 August 2021. PenzaNews. The period of custody of former Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev, accused of committing a crime under Part 6, Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Taking Bribes” was extended until November 20. On Tuesday, August 17, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow granted the investigators’ motion to that effect.

On the same day, the court was also expected to consider the investigator’s motion to extend the preventive measure against businessman Boris Shpigel, who is accused of giving a bribe on a particularly large scale. However, the court hearing was postponed until August 19.
According to the court’s press service, this decision was taken because Boris Shpigel had filed a motion to familiarise himself with the materials at the request of the investigator.
