Penza, 30 September 2021. PenzaNews. A resident of Penza, born in 1980, fell victim to a fraudulent purchase of a sauna barrel from an internet advertisement. This was said by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

“The citizen explained that she had found the advertisement on an internet site for the sale of sauna barrels and left her contact details. The woman then received a call on her mobile phone from an unknown person who introduced himself as a manager of the organisation. The man explained that an advance payment was required to purchase the goods, after which he sent on WhatsApp a contract for the work and an invoice for payment. The citizen transferred a sum of money amounting to more than 35 000 roubles to the specified account,” the press release says.

It adds that the Penza resident never received the goods.

A criminal case under Part 2, Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud” was initiated.
