Penza, 9 November 2021. PenzaNews. Counterfeit money was presented to a newlywed couple at their wedding in Penza region. This follows from a report of the press service of the regional department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The Penza department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia received a message from a representative of an organization that they had found a counterfeit banknote of the year 1997 with a nominal value of 5 000 roubles. The counterfeit banknote came from a resident of Vasilyevka village born in 1995. [...] According to the man, he received the banknote as a wedding present,” the press release says.

It notes that the police inspected the man’s flat and found no other notes with signs of counterfeiting, nor any equipment to make them.

Criminal proceedings were instituted under Part 1, Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, storage, transportation or sale of counterfeit money or securities”.
