Penza, 2 December 2021. PenzaNews. A counterfeit banknote of 5 000 roubles of 1997 was found in Penza in the proceeds of a supermarket. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

“On closer inspection, it was found that the paper of the banknote was of inadequate quality, lacking security fibres and security thread, the watermark was imitated and there was a solid glow in the UVL,” the press release said.

It adds that forensic examination revealed that the counterfeit was made on an inkjet printer.

Criminal proceedings were instituted under Part 1, Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, storage, transportation or sale of counterfeit money or securities”.
