Taxi driver faces up to six years in prison for purchase with card he found

Penza, 14 January 2022. PenzaNews. A taxi driver from the city of Serdobsk, the Penza region, who found someone else’s bank card in the car and paid more than 7,000 roubles for purchases in a grocery store with it may face imprisonment for a term of up to six years.

According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Penza region, the perpetrator was identified in the course of investigative proceedings carried out by the criminal investigation department of the Serdobsky area.
The message posted on the ministry’s website states that the man gave a confession, a coercive measure in the form of an obligation to appear at the police was chosen against him.
The text also clarifies that the criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under paragraph “d” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft.”
