The major overhaul of V.G. Belinsky Museum finished in the Penza region

Penza, 30 May 2011. PenzaNews. The major overhaul of the memorial house of the Russian literary and theatrical critic Vissarion Belinsky was finished in the Penza region. According to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Region Archive, about 8,4 million roubles were allocated from the regional budget for these purposes.

The Ministry said: "The external walls were repaired, the floor structural system of the building was replaced, the decorative coating of a ceiling was restored, the inclined roof was repaired, the window and door units were replaced but the existing configuration was saved, the interior furnishing of the building and surrounding area improvement were made."

The unique one in the country, the State Museum of V.G. Belinsky was opened in Chembar (nowadays the town named after Belinsky) in 1937. The memorial-household exposition "Belinsky's Family" is placed in the house; there are memorial things, books from the private library of the critic, household things.

The house of V.G.Belinsky is the one-storied wooden building on the stone base with a complex construction and seven rooms and a kitchen.

Vissarion Belinsky lived there since 1816 to 1825, and came there on vacation when he learned in the Penza grammar school since 1825 to 1829.

The celebrating of the 200 anniversary of V.G. Belinsky’s birthday is planning to be organized in the museum on June, 11.
