Originally brothers Nikitins constructed the circus on the bank of the river Sura and held the performances on ice. The building for circus performances of various troupes appeared in 1906. The initiators were the representatives of red guerrillas. Here, as well as in other premises, circus performances were held regulary and were vey popular. Six years the residents of Penza watched the performances on the arena of summer circus tents and in 1965 the stationary capital new building of circus for 1 400 spectators was opened.
