Workers of Penza library named after Lermontov digitized 10 000 pages of books

Penza, 26 January 2012. PenzaNews. Employees of Penza regional library named after M.U. Lermontov digitized 10 000 pages of books. Head of the library Marina Osipova informed about it on Thursday, January 26. “Now all books which are already scanned and processed are accessible in electronic form on the site of the library named after M.U. Lermontov,” she said.

“In 1890 our library was created and the specific goal of it was to promote successes of domestic education within the Penza region. For these years employees of the library managed to collect unique fund, over 2 million units. Our problem is to make fund accessible to all levels of population, that is even those people, which all spend free time at the computer,” Marina Osipova said.
As she said, for digitizing ancient books, newspapers and magazines in summer 2011 working group was organized which structure included the employees of the Penza library named after M.U. Lermontov, children-youthful library, regional state archive and Penza historical museum.
“Two experts of working group passed training in presidential library in Moscow where they learned how to digitize books,” she said.
