Best actors of first quarter of 2012 announced in Penza

Penza, 3 May 2012. PenzaNews. Five actors of the Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A.V. Lunacharsky were awarded for achievements in work following the results of the first quarter 2012. According to the Department of Culture and Region Archive, the award was given according to the results of spectator vote taking into account opinion of the special commission headed by regional specialist and dramatic historian Igor Shishkin.

“Evgeny Kharitonov who had moved to Penza from Tambov won the nomination “Best Theatrical Debut”. He had a successful start as duke Aldukar in “Dolls” and played small roles such as Dorodnov in “The Late Love” and major Mercier in “The wind rustles in poplars”, although his biggest success was Ermolay Lopakhin in Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard,” informed the spokesperson of the department, having added that now the actor prepares for a new performance, comedy “Prima Donna” where he will act as doctor Myers.
Anatoly Gromov became “Best Young Actor,” according to the audience.
“He performs in 12 plays of the theater. This season Anatoly Gromov played different roles of a grotesque Don Agustin in “Dolls” and of a lyrical little mouse Shoma in the fairy tale “All Mice Like Cheese,” of a courageous officer Gustave in the performance “The wind rustles in poplars” and of a cynical footman Yasha in “The Cherry Orchard,” informed the spokesperson of the regional Department of Culture and Archive.
Following the results of the voting Juliya Kuzmina won the title of “Best Young Actress”. She plays Verochka in “Life is Beautiful,” Jane Worthington in “Lux No. 13”, Violetta in the fairy tale “All Mice Like Cheese” and Zerbinette in “Scapin’s Schemings.”
“Famous national actor of Russia Mikhail Kaplan, loved by different generations of the audience, was recognized as “Best Actor.” The performances with his participation “A Memorial Prayer,” “Even a Wise Man Stumbles” and others are always sold out. Recently Mikhail Kaplan played one of the sign roles of Russian theater in “The Cherry Orchard,” reported the spokesperson, having added that this autumn the actor will start rehearsals of a benefit performance devoted to his 80th anniversary.
Natalia Starovoit was awarded the title “Best Actress.”
“Honored actress of Russia Natalia Starovoit plays today different roles: both crowd scene roles and leading roles, heroines and age characters. And Lyubov Andreevna Ranevskaya’s benefit performance role in Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” staged to her anniversary brought the actress lion’s share of the audience votes,” summarized the spokesperson.
