Penza, 18 May 2012. PenzaNews. Presentation of a book “Penza. Leafing through an Old Album” which contains photos of city streets from 1940s to 1960s took place in Penza on Friday, May 18.

The author of the book is a local historian Igor Shishkin who used digitized photos from the films of press photographers who worked in the past century Nikolay Pavlov, Vasily Kosov and others.

“It took me only 47 days to prepare the book, however, I have been collecting this photo archive for almost all my life,” said Igor Shishkin.

He noted that the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev supported the idea to publish an album with unknown photos of Penza and rendered the financial help to release the book.

“One more photo album with pictures of 1960s–1980s will be published by the 350th anniversary of the city,” reported the spokesperson.
