The troupe of dramatic theater including 16 people took part in the international festival of regional theaters of Russia and the former USSR “Theatrical Divertissement” for the third time. This time they presented Molière’s comedy “Scapin’s Deceits” (Les Fourberies de Scapin).

“We visited Ariel, Ashdod, Rishon le-Tsion and Tel Aviv. Every city had its own atmosphere and there was peculiar, unique audience at every theater,” Sergey Kazakov reported during press conference, having noted that, in his opinion, 1.5 million of Russian-speaking population of Israel are true theater-goers as other Israelis are less interested in theater.

“We noticed that the audience there is much more attentive, than ours. In Penza we act on a big stage but stages in Israel were much smaller, therefore all spectators hear, understand and feel the actors,” said Anna Arzyamova, the actress of Penza Drama Theater.

The young woman admitted that during the trip to the Holy Land she together with her groom Yury Zemlyansky, who is also an actor of Penza Drama Theater, consecrated their wedding rings in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Sergey Kazakov reported that the management of the festival transferred letters of thanks to the art director of Penza Theater and the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev for an invaluable contribution to development of Israeli-Russian relations.

He also added that during their trip they reached an agreement concerning exchange tours.

“Besides, Penza dramatic theater is going to make tours in Hungary and Slovenia to perform “The Story of a Crime” which is so-called brand of Penza Drama Theater and the fairy tale of the Hungarian author “All Mice Like Cheese,” reported Sergey Kazakov.
