Prosecutor’s office gave copies of Lermontov duel documents to State Lermontov Museum-Reserve “Tarkhany”

Penza, 20 July 2012. PenzaNews. The prosecutor’s office of the Penza region gave the copies of documents on duel between Mikhail Lermontov and to Nikolay Martynov to the State Lermontov Museum-Reserve “Tarkhany.” “The materials came from the state archives of Stavropol Krai to the regional prosecutor’s office at the request of deputy prosecutor of the Penza region,” informed the press service of the General Prosecutor Office.

The department noted that “Tarkhany” received the copies of “private constable council report on July 18, 1841 about the duel between lieutenant of Tenginka Infantry Lermontov with the dismissed from service of Grebensk Cossack regiment major Martynov from the archive of the General Management of the Caucasian region”, as well as report copies to “Gentleman district chief of Pyatigorsk,” “Gentleman Chief Manager of 11th department of Her Imperial Majesty Registry,” and a copy of an extract from the office register book of criminal incidents happened on July 18, 1841.
“All of them contain information about the duel, and Lermontov’s death from injury. Previously, these documents did not belong to the Museum,” clarified the General Prosecutor Office.
