Penza, 7 November 2012. PenzaNews. Gala concert and awarding ceremony of the Seventh All-Russian festival of folk dance competition “Dance, the Volga Region!” took place in Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A.Lunacharsky on Tuesday, November 6.
According to the deputy head of the regional department of culture and archive Kiril Zastrozhny, holding such a festival, Penza became the center of Russian culture gathering its best representatives.
“The audience of the festival had the opportunity to become familiar with various creative works. They say that the song is the soul of the people, while the dance is its face, character and soul. Just like the Volga River brings people living in the Volga Federal District together, so does the art of dance,” he said.
In turn, the head of the department of culture of Penza Vera Feygina noted that the festival “Dance, the Volga Region!”, as well as all activities that have taken place in the city in the recent years, is devoted to the forthcoming anniversary of the regional center.
“For us it is a great honor to host groups from all over the Volga Region, partner cities of Tambov and Cheboksary, and the twin-city — Mogilev, Belarus,” she underlined, inviting all the artists to Penza in 2013.
According to the results of the art contest, held during the festival, the groups were awarded diplomas of winners I, II and III degree.
Special diplomas were awarded for teaching — Olga Belova from Nizhny Novgorod and her exemplary dance group “Pioneriya”, and for original choreographic pattern — Anastasia Muzhikova from Cheboksary, Republic of Chuvashia and her folk dance group “Uzory.”
