Penza, 28 November 2012. PenzaNews. Yury Annenkov’s pencil on paper portrait of famous Russian theatre director Vsevolod Meyerhold born in Penza was sold for 1,7 million dollars at Sotheby’s in London on Tuesday, November 27.

According to the data posted on the official website of Sotheby’s, the portrait created in 1922 was the most expensive lot.

The conducted auction was part of the Russian Trading organized in London every year. Buyers are usually offered books, manuscripts and objects of decorative art.
