Acoustic project by Mikhail Lanai to be implemented in new building of Penza Philharmonic

Penza, 26 February 2013. PenzaNews. Acoustic project designed by the head of acoustics laboratory of the institute of television and radio Mikhail Lanai, will be implemented in the new building of Penza Regional Philharmonic. This was announced by the director of Philharmonic Alexey Lvov-Belov on Tuesday, February 26. “My recommendations on the implementation of the project by the Austrian company “Hutter Acustix GmbH” unfortunately were not taken into account, and the choice was made in favor of a cheaper design, proposed by Russian experts,” he said.

According to Alexey Lvov-Belov, the situation is complicated by the fact that the creation of the project and the monitoring of the process of its implementation are carried out by specialists under supervision of Mikhail Lanai, while the work with sound-absorbing and sound-reflecting acoustic materials will be conducted by a third-party company.
“The main advantage of the company “Hutter Acustix GmbH” was that it took over the project entirely from the beginning to the end without engaging with any other organization. Thus, the responsibility would be fully theirs. And in this case it is not clear who to present claims to,” the agency interlocutor said.
However, Alexey Lvov-Belov underlined that the administration of the Penza region demanded that the head of the project gave absolute guarantee of quality of acoustics in Philharmonic halls.
“If a contractor completes the construction of the building in the nearest future, Mikhail Lanai and his team will be able to start working in spring,” he concluded.
The representatives of the Austrian company “Hutter Acustix GmbH” presented their acoustic project for Penza Philharmonic in July 2012. Within 21 years on the market, the company has implemented around 200 projects in various halls of Europe receiving numerous positive reviews.
One of the latest works of Mikhail Lanai was the project for small and large concert halls in Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic, the acoustic quality of which was complained at by numerous artists.
