Penza, 5 March 2013. PenzaNews. The third anniversary of the opening of new Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A. Lunacharsky, the building of which was erected on the site of the theater destroyed by fire in 2008, is celebrated on Tuesday, March 5.

“In every life – whether it is the life of an individual or a society: a country, a city, a creative team – there are dates which mark a milestone, or start new pages of life. For us, one of the most important dates is 5 March 2010, which is the day when the theater resurrected after the fire welcomed spectators in its new building for the first time,” head of literary dramatic department of the theater Vitaly Sokolov told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He noted that currently the Penza theater is steadily moving forward. According to him, it is growing, looking for new forms of work preserving classical tradition and turning to new experimental drama. The theater collaborates with recognized masters of direction and discovers new names.

“Over the past year, there were 10 premieres; four touring and festival trips were organized, two creative laboratories worked in the theater. Now there are rehearsals of three performances: 'Night, Mother after the same play by M. Norman, Royal Cow based on the fairy tale by L. Titova and A. Starotorzhsky, and It Runs in the Family after R. Cooney’s comedy,” he added.
