Penza, 13 March 2013. PenzaNews. A famous Russian singer Sergei Penkin was awarded an order “For merits in development of Penza” during the concert he gave in his native city on Tuesday evening, March 12.

Penza mayor Roman Chernov and the head of the city Yuri Alpatov presented the award to Sergei Penkin in person.
They noted high professionalism of the singer, productive creative work and charity, and his great personal contribution to preservation and development of cultural heritage of the Penza region.

Sergei Penkin sang his well-known songs, as well as some songs from his new album “Happiness is near.”

Sergei Penkin was born in Penza on February 10, 1961.

He graduated from the Penza School of Music in 1979.

From 1980–1981 he joined the military orchestra of the Penza Higher Artillery Engineering College.

In 1986–1992 he studied at the Musical Pedagogical Institute named after Gnesins.

Sergei Penkin presented 20 solo shows, his autobiographical musical show, wrote 143 songs, released 13 albums, and received a number of awards/titles in musical contests.

Sergei Penkin entered the Guinness Book of Records as a unique voice of four octaves.
