Second concert of Sergei Rachmaninoff to be perform in Penza Philharmonic

Penza, 19 March 2013. PenzaNews. Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff will be performed in Penza Philharmonic next Friday, March 22.
“The work will be performed by the Symphony Orchestra directed by the honored worker of arts Vladimir Kashirsky and soloist, national artist of Tatarstan Yevgeny Mikhaylov,” the press secretary of Philharmonic Svetlana Zinina told news agency “PenzaNews.”
She reminded that the second concerto for piano was composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff in 1990.
“The work was preceded by a deep creative crisis, and it became a starting point of a new period in his life. This is one of the most popular works of piano literature, which became a part of the repertoire of the world’s leading pianists. The work was performed and recorded by Sergei Rachmaninoff himself, as well as Sviatoslav Richter, Arthur Rubinstein, Rosa Tamarkina, Byron Janis, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Nikolai Petrov, and Van Cliburn,” the agency interlocutor explained.
