Penza, 17 June 2013. PenzaNews. Penza Tatars celebrated the national holiday Sabantuy in central Park named after V. Belinsky.

Welcoming the participants of the event, the acting vice governor of the Penza region Valery Savin reminded about the contribution of the Tartar residents to the development of the region, and wished them good luck.

“Sabantuy is a celebration of national culture and national sports. Dear friends, let me congratulate you on this wonderful occasion,” he said.

After official speeches, the creative groups of the Penza region and Tatarstan performed for the audience. In addition, the guests had a chance to observe the national kind of wrestling — koresh, attend macramé and wood painting workshops, as well as taste Tatar cuisine.

As a part of the celebration in the park, the portable “walk of fame” of Penza Tatar residents was opened which included 45 people.
