Penza, 2 October 2013. PenzaNews. Artistic director of Penza Drama Theatre named after A. Lunacharsky Sergei Kazakov noted that it is necessary to financially enhance the acting profession prestige.

“At present the average salary of an actor is 14 thousand rubles in the province, the artistic director salary is 30 thousand rubles. It is ridiculous,” Sergei Kazakov mentioned during the discussion among authorized representatives of Vladimir Putin just before the culture and arts board meeting.

Along with that, he noticed that there were some successful government financial activities.

“If region heads had certain possibilities to raise salaries of artistic workers, part of the problem would be solved,” artistic director of Penza Drama Theatre remarked.

In the course of the discussion Sergei Kazakov also spoke for simplifying People’s artist of Russia title granting procedure, as reported on the Social national fund site.
